When I went to a knee doctor my mom mentioned that I had scoliosis. The doctor took an x-ray of my back and said it was much more than 5 degrees. it was about 20-25. I have a s-curve and another one in my lower back. I went to see another doctor who specializes in backs and he said that my curve had progressed to 27 degrees in the last month or so. I was told i needed to get a brace. I felt like a cry-baby because all I did was cry. I feel so wierd already at school and with a brace I feel worse. I got measured for the brace and picked it up. when I went to the doctor to get it checked, he said it was no good. now I have to wait and get more anxious about it. I hate the brace but i know in the long run it's going to make me happy I did it. Right now me and my mom just have to find clothes that'll fit and not look really bad. Mostly I'm just scared that people at school with not realize that it wasn't a choice, I have to wear it. also I'm afraid to go to highschool. I don't want to go wearing a brace, but I think that by then, I feel comfortable with it. iIt'll be a part of my life, I just have to get used to it. |
